Each word is written twice to help the children remember the difference between LE, LA, L’ (the) and UN, UNE (a).

Le chat est orange et marron. The cat is orange and brown.

Combien de .... y a-t-il? How many ... are there?
Il y en a ... There are ...

Combien de chats y a-t-il? How many cats are there?
Il y en a sept. There are seven.

NB Don't forget the plural 's'.
